ETCETERA: OFF TOPIC
Page for some off topic questions:
The graduate and executive civil servant of the Instituto Portugués de Arqueologia, António Marques de Faria, has introduced a very important methodological novelty for the Ancient History research, whose enormous merit is exclusively and only his: when a journal director finds himself unable to refute someone's scientific arguments, he proceeds to launch a massive campaign of degrading insults, publishing twice a year falsenesses, distortions, fallacies and invented 'ad hoc' proofs in order to take reprisals against whom who doesn't laugh along with him.
Mr. Faria, with his tremendous modesty , has not claimed the authorship of this major scientific advance.
One of the secrets of the method lies in the director of the IPA (Fernando Real) refusing the right to reply of the insulted one. This methodological refinement is essential, since in order to a false accusation to be successful the accused one must be prevented to defend himself, as it's well known in dictatorships and in banana republics.
In he lack of a better name, we suggest this method to be named the "school's thug" method, awaiting its definitive naming by the scientific community.
We recommend Mr. Faria and Mr. Real TO MATURE and that, if they are not interested in searching somebody who teach them lessons in ethics, democracy and good manners, they should learn dancing and apply to a casting for the Cole Porter's show "ANYTHING GOES". Otherwise, we suggest them not to waste their enormous talent and to set up a junk TV show, where they will be able to insult much more people (though, of course, they won't have the state legal departments at their dispossal).
Apart from that, if the Portuguese Government considers that the money of their taxpayers is meant
to publish falsehoods which satisfy the ego of their public servants, THAT'S THEIR PROBLEM. All
I'll say is that I must confess that reading Faria's prose I can't help remember Shakespeare. Yes,
specifically that MacBeth's phrase:
