This Esbart was founded in 1943 under the protection of the "Obra Sindical" of "Education and Rest" until the year it disappeared, and the foundation was some years not acting. In its second period it was constituted again as an independent entity in 1982 with own statutes approved by the "Generalitat de Catalunya" with nº 909 of the Legal Entities Register, in november, 30th the same year and registered with nº 22 in the Tarragona's Municipal Register as a Cultural Entity.
Actually has an important quantity of members and dancers as well as a dance school in wich the kids start since the age of 6 years, divided in two sections: Children and Youthful, that constitute de Dance Body quarry, that actually is composed by 27 girls and 21 boys. The Entity counts on a Veteran Dancers section, composed by 12 couples, thing that proves the big repercussion that has in Tarragona our Esbart. |

We want to stick out that our Entity is Founder Member of the Group of Dancer Esbarts of Catalonia, of the Spanish Folklore Groups Federation, and of the Association of the Tarragona's Regions Esbarts.
Separately mention deserves the thing that our Entity has recovered for our Town the Ball de Gitanes de Tarragona and the Ball de Pastorets de Tarragona that are a part of the Town's Retinue, declared of National Interest, recovers done in 1985 and 1988. The Children's Section dances too since Tarragona's Patatuf Esbart's start, and has recovered recently the Ball de Punteta i de Taló Tarragona's dance.

Relating to the clothing, besides the typical Catalan Clothing, known by everyone, our group adopts in each dance the typical clothing of the original region. So we have an extensive and varied quantity of traditional clothes available, as well as modern clothing for actualdances of most recent creation that we show always that the Festivals Organizers ask for it.
Our director, Mr. Salvador Fa i Llimiana has recovered the Ball de l'Ametlla de Mar dance and the Jota de Bitem one, apart of many others that the Dance Body acts out in its performances habitually. It has archieved too three shows where the dances have a thread that explains the Catalonia History with Dances, an Carnival Anthology and a third that shows the Thousand Years of Catalonia With Dances.

To the importance of the Esbart Dansaire de Tarragona bears witness the quantity of performances that we have performed in those 19 years of existence. In Catalonia we have acted out in many villages that we don't mention because the extension of the list, but we'll mention the most important ones like Lleida, Barcelona, Sant Cugat, Balsareny, Sabadell, Santa Coloma de Cervelló, Reus, l'Ametlla de Mar, Tivissa, Tortosa, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Riudoms, Salou, Vila-Seca, besides the many performances in the City of Tarragona. |
In the Spanish State in Lugo, Burgos, Sestao, Bakio, Paléncia, Pontevedra, Murcia, Santander, València, Alcazar de San Juan, Campo de Criptana, Manzanares, Almeria, Vigo, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Teruel, Andujar, San Sebastian, Vall d'Uixó, Pamplona, Miranda de Ebro, Monzón, Coín, Zamora, Cabezon de la Sal, Santa Maria del Paramo, Almagro and Toledo.

We also want to do special mention of the many activities are performed in our Social Site, for example the diferent Championships of parcheesi, chess, domino, tennis table, and other table games, and also the social celebrations as the Parties of Sant Joan, New Year, Chestnut Day in All Saints. And we also have constituted a Carnival Comparse, that is one of the oldest in Tarragona's Carnival. Recently it has constituted a Bike Tourist Group that go in excursion at weekends around the surroundings of Tarragona and by the nearer regions doing sport and tourism, and has about twenty members.
